MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Chester Hill Adult Home in Mount Vernon is seeking protection from the city, and other creditors, while it tries to straighten out its faltering finances, according to a report by lohud.com.
The Cottage Avenue facility, which houses about 20 residents, owes more than $200,000 in back taxes and has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, lohud.com reported.
This latest development just adds to the home’s woes. In 2015, its residents had to be evacuated after a carelessly tossed cigarette caused a fire, the lohud.com article said.
