Gas Line Work On Union Ave. In Mt. Vernon To Take 2 Weeks

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Con Edison workers said that construction to repair gas lines on Union Avenue will continue for about two weeks.

Construction began Wednesday afternoon by the loading docks in the rear of the Mount Vernon Post Office, located at 15 S. 1st Ave. Union Avenue, a one-way street, was blocked off except to local traffic while crews dug holes to fix the gas lines.

Workers on-site said Con Edison will be doing the work in increments over the next two weeks, digging one hole at a time and working on specific areas rather than tearing up the whole street. Crews are expected to be up early tomorrow morning to continue the work.
