An investigation is under way in the cause of death for Curlen, the 20-year-old daughter of Julie A. Curlen of Rye and Steve Curlen of New Rochelle.
Virginia officials said results of toxicology tests may not be known for about three months to determine the exact cause of death for the James Madison University sophomore.
Miss Curlen was found about 7:30 a.m. the prior Friday, April 17, and police in Harrisonburg, Va., said a preliminary investigation found "no suspicious circumstances or foul play."
Earlier reports on both News 12 and CBS New York cited alcohol poisoning as a suspected cause of the death.
Miss Curlen is the third member of her class at Rye High School to die since graduation in 2013. Michael Rath, 19, a student at at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., was found dead on Jan. 22, 2014, at his campus apartment. And Peter Collins, 18, a student at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, was found unresponsive at his Rye home on July 26, 2014, and died at Greenwich Hospital.
Curlen was a member of the RHS varsity volleyball team..
