MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A 20-year veteran of the Mount Vernon Police Department has sued city officials for alleged gender discrimination, lohud.com reported.
According to the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in White Plains on Thursday, Jennifer Carpenter says she was targeted for mistreatment by some of her male colleagues after being promoted to sergeant in 2011.
Carpenter further alleged she was unfairly denied disability benefits after being injured in the line of duty, according to lohud.com.
