MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Former Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis, reacting to the conviction of a local firefighter for gun running, said he was shocked by the news but didn’t think it would make much of a difference in the city, according to News 12.

Henry-George Thomas, the half-brother of newly sworn-in Mayor Richard Thomas, has quit the Fire Department and pleaded guilty to federal charges, News 12 reported.

Davis praised the police for their work in the investigation, but cautioned that residents should still remain vigilant and wary of potentially similar incidents in the future, the report read.
