- Westchester County police arrested 10 people on driving while intoxicated charges over Thanksgiving weekend, including eight motorists who were taken into custody at sobriety checkpoints conducted with the Mount Vernon Police Department, according to a release by Westchester County police.
- A seven month investigation ended with the identification of more than 60 individuals including Mount Vernon residents suspected to be involved with drug trafficking in New Rochelle.
- Bill Cosby postponed his two shows in Tarrytown amid growing accusations of sexual assault.
- School officials have kicked off their annual literacy initiative, which will see students attempt to read more than 200,000 pages by the end of the academic year, in an effort to encourage Mount Vernon students to read more both in and out of the classroom.
