Air Quality Alert Issued For Mount Vernon

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- An air quality health advisory is in effect for Westchester County, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

An Air Quality Alert means ozone levels are expected to reach or exceed unhealthy standards.

The air quality index is listed at 110 for the New York City metro area, according to the report. The alert is in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 22.

Active children and adults and those with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.

Skies are expected to be sunny with a high temperature around 87 degrees on Tuesday.

Hot and humid temperatures will remain in the area on Wednesday with a high of 88 degrees before storms roll through the area during the evening to break the humidity going into Thursday.
