Westchester Links Awards Scholarships To Mount Vernon Students

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Westchester County Chapter of The Links awarded academic scholarships at New Rochelle United Methodist Church to 13 graduating seniors from Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Woodland High Schools.

The schools have hosted Links-supported programs, which have provided enrichment activities to the student body. The following students won awards based on academic excellence and community service:

Mount Vernon High School: Leela I. Beech, Mikala M. Bell, Janei F. Chambers and Anya M. Patterson.

From New Rochelle High School: Zachary C. Crisp, Anna B. Johnson, Nkosi A. Joseph, Celeste Seales, Gloriana L. Wilson and Maia Wilson.

From Woodlands High School: Fabio Amendola, Awa G. Nyambi  and Jayda S. Yizar.

The Westchester County (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, has served the Westchester County community of African Americans and people of African descent, and others, for 65 years. Its members have conducted numerous programs for youth and families, and provided scholarships for deserving students. The Chapter has also forged significant collaborations with the private sector, government agencies and community organizations to enhance and enrich the quality of life in Westchester County.
