Judy Williams, the city's commissioner of human resources, and Thomas P. Benson, the independent director and audit committee chair of Key Brand Entertainment, will serve as the newest board members at the senior citizen care center.

Williams has been the commissioner of human resources for Mount Vernon for about 18 months. She is the key adviser on employment and personnel issues to Mayor Ernest Davis and the City Council. She served as the director of affirmative action and compliance for the city for more than a decade before assuming her post in human resources.

“I have personally been the benefactor of Wartburgs compassionate and caring programs,” she said in a statement. “I look forward to working with other board members to expand Wartburg’s geographic reach and its deserved reputation throughout the region.”

Before becoming the independent director at Key Brand Entertainment, Benson served as the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Core Media Group, the owner of several leading entertainment brands including "American Idol." He is also the president of the board of the Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School.

“I am delighted to be on the board of Wartburg,” Benson said. “It sets the standard in providing services to our growing elderly population by combining a continuum of housing, rehabilitation, nursing and home care.”

David J. Genter, the president and chief executive officer of Wartburg praised both Williams and Benson for the unique skills they will bring to the facility.

“Ms. Williams brings a depth of knowledge about human resource issues, an executive’s insight into the new world of social media and a deep understanding of our local community,” he said. “Mr. Benson brings two decades of strategic and financial experience during which he helped several entertainment organizations grow, and he has a rare personal commitment to non-profit organizations.”
