To the Editor,
I live in the Fleetwood section of Mount Vernon on Collins Avenue. During Hurricane Sandy, all of the street lights on Collins Avenue as well as the adjacent street Birch Street lost power. Within a few days all of the lights came back on except for the 2 street lights directly in front of the buildings at 280/290 Collins Ave. This is a dead end street on a little cul-de-sac and it is extremely dark and dangerous with no lighting. You cannot see anything.
I have made at least 10 phone calls to Mount Vernon Public Works to let them know of this situation. I have spoken to many different people and finally they responded by saying it is a Con Edison problem. I then proceeded to make numerous phone calls to Con Edison who is telling me they have no record of getting any reports of those lights out by Mt Vernon Public Works.
Needless to say, I have spent way too much of my personal time speaking to both Con Edison and Mount Vernon Public Works and the bottom line is that the street lights are still out. I am tired of getting the run around for two months from both of these areas.
Sincerely, Debra Vitale Fleetwood
