Mount Vernon Nurse Honored As Health Care Professional Of The Year

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Barbara Wisdom, a registered nurse and Mount Vernon resident, was honored at the NYSUT's annual Representative Assembly May 1-2 in Buffalo.

Wisdom is a Federation of Nurses/United Federation of Teachers member and Care Coordinator with VNSNY Choice Health Plans, part of the not-for-profit Visiting Nurse Service of New York.

A native of Jamaica, Wisdom began her career with VNSNY in 1989, fulfilling what she has called her "lifelong goal" of becoming a nurse. As a care coordinator with VNSNY CHOICE, her focus is on some of New York’s most vulnerable residents, including the elderly and the poor and frail who are suffering with multiple chronic conditions.
