Mount Vernon National Guard Soldier Receives New Rank, New Responsibilities

LATHAM, NY – A New York Army National Guard soldier from Mount Vernon recently received a promotion and will soon begin taking on additional responsibilities and leadership roles.

Jonathan Hinds of Mount Vernon was recently promoted to the rank of specialist in the New York Army National Guard.

Jonathan Hinds, who is assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, has been promoted to the rank of specialist, according to Maj. Gen. Anthony P. German, the adjutant general for the state of New York.

According to German, Hinds scored well in a number of areas, including overall performance, attitude, leadership, ability and development potential.

“These promotions additionally recognize the best-qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard,” officials said in a statement.
