On Tuesday, Oct. 7, nursing students offered free blood pressure screenings to those in attendance, while medical students performed CPR demonstrations where student and school staff members alike showed the proper ways to check for responsiveness and pulse and how to do chest compressions on a mannequin.
Things have been busy for Montefiore, which celebrated the opening of its new Medical-Surgical Unit, which includes 28 new beds with built-in scales and safety alarms, flat screen televisions, new equipment, furniture, floors and fixtures in the rooms and bathrooms, new signage, a new nurses station and separate physician work space.
