MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The City of Mount Vernon has announced the availability of five vacancies throughout various departments.

Resumes must be received or postmarked by Friday for the following positions:

Auto Mechanic – One position is available to a person with on- year experience as a journeyman auto mechanic. Duties include making general repairs and much more. Salary range is $47,169 – $64,865
Painter – One position is available to a person with two years experience as a journeyman painter. Position requires a knowledge of scraping, sanding, varnishing mixing and more. Salary range $52,983 – $74,429.
Sanitation Worker – Two positions are available to people who have physical abilities to perform manual labor, good knowledge of the operation of tractors and automotive equipment. Three years experience a minimum. Salary range $44,579 – $60,365.20.
Traffic Maintenance Technician – One position is available to a person with a good knowledge of installation, maintenance of electro-mechanical traffic-control devices. Three years experience with tractors, trucks and other automotive equipment required. Salary range $51,573 – $71,495.
Motor Equipment Operator – Two positions are available to people who can operate a range of vehicles (tractors, trucks etc.). Minimum three years experience required Salary range – $44,579 – $60,365.
