Mount Vernon Boys And Girls Enjoy Victor Cruz's HalloweenLand

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Although he’s not making an impact on the field while he continues recovering from an injury, New York Giant Victor Cruz got into the holiday spirit with some Mount Vernon kids at his “HalloweenLand” fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club.

Last week, the Victor Cruz Foundation hosted a star-studded fundraiser to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of America, including a bus full of members of the Mount Vernon outfit.

Cruz – keeping his leg elevated while his surgically repaired patellar ligament continues healing – was joined by several teammates and other famed New York athletes at Basketball City on Pier 36 in New York City for a series of Halloween and sports-related events, with all proceeds from the event benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Those in attendance at “HalloweenLand” learned to salsa dance with Cruz, shot hoops with members of the New York Knicks and Liberty, played catch with linebacker Mark Herzlich, enjoyed a costume contest and hung out the legendary figures such as coach Bill Cowher and New York Rangers great Brian Mullen.

Other treats for children included a guest appearance from Dora the Explorer and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

While the children were busy being awe struck by the star-studded guest list, and participating in a series of events, their parents had the chance to bid on sports memorabilia at the Steiner silent auction and learn the “science of sound” with Sean Combs’ Revolt TV.

This isn’t the first time that Cruz has worked to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of America. Since founding his foundation in 2012, he has served as a motivational speaker and special guest at several events designed to promote STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – education since his meteoric rise in the NFL began.
