The contracting company will receive the Frank and Kitty Shankwitz Award – named after two Make-A-Wish founders – for the work it has done in both the Mount Vernon community and throughout the county.

DGC Capital Contracting has raised more than $100,000 to help make wishes come true. Gerry Ryan, president and CEO of the company, was recently appointed to the Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley Board of Directors.

Through its own Fulfilling a Dream foundation, an organization established by DGC Capital, the company has provided college scholarships for students with limited resources. It has also sponsored several 5K runs to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Thomas Conklin, president of Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley, said the foundation couldn’t accomplish its goals without companies such as DGC Capital and local resident Joseph Capobianco, who will also be honored.

“We couldn’t make wishes come true without the continued support of the people and local businesses in the communities we serve,” he said. “The continuing support by Joe Capobianco and the philanthropic contributions from DCG Capital play a vital role in helping the chapter carry out its mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.”
