Jazz Event Raises $130K For Mount Vernon's Wartburg

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Jazz in June: A Wartburg Celebration of Arts & Music, the third annual gala fundraiser for Wartburg, raised nearly $130,000 on June 18.

The event was held at the Surf Club on the Sound in New Rochelle, with nearly 270 guests and 21 sponsors. This year’s honorees included Terrie M. Williams, Perkins Eastman and Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Bronx.

Williams is the president and founder of The Terrie Williams Agency, best-selling author, motivational speaker and mental health advocate. In her work with The Terrie Williams Agency, she has represented some of the biggest names in entertainment, sports, business and politics. Williams is also the co-founder of New Legacy Leaders, a wellness initiative intended to inspire a generation of leaders to adopt a vision beyond depression, obesity and poverty.

Perkins Eastman is an award-winning, international planning, design and consulting firm. With more than 600 completed senior living design projects, Perkins Eastman was instrumental in designing Wartburg’s Meadowview Assisted Living facility and the new Rehabilitation and Adult Day Services Center, Westchester’s only freestanding rehabilitation center with all private rooms and Mount Vernon’s only LEED-certified building in environmental efficiency.

Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church is a praying community of service that receives, teaches, celebrates and shares Christ Jesus. Eighty-seven years old and located in the Wakefield section of the Bronx,Redeemer is a growing, multicultural, multigenerational congregation serving the Bronx and lower Westchester while reaching people all over the world.

The gala’s Mistress of Ceremonies, nationally recognized, award-winning NY1 News senior reporter, Cheryl Wills.
