Davetta Sherwood, who was born in Mount Vernon, turns 30 on Monday.
Sherwood, an actress and musician, was born Jan. 27, 1984.
Sherwood first worked as a child model before venturing into an acting career including appearing in music videos and guest appearances. Her first breakthrough acting role was on the Emmy award-winning soap opera "The Young and the Restless," that earned her a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series".
In 2008, Sherwood launched her own production company, 5 Foot Nuthin Productions. Sherwood is in the process of writing, producing, and directing her own stage play, "Exactly Different." Her other projects are "The Yes We Will Project," a documentary that features young people who head to Barack Obama's inauguration and "Bounce," a reality television series that is currently in pre-production.
