Zuckerberg posted the announcement on the social media platform he created.
This is not the first attempt at having a child for Zuckerberg and Chan. The two have suffered through three miscarriages over the years, according to Zuckerberg's post.
"You start making plans, and then they're gone. It's a lonely experience. Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you -- as if you're defective or did something to cause this," Zuckerberg wrote in his post. "In today's open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn't distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope."
Zuckerberg said both Chan and the baby are healthy and that the pregnancy is far enough along where the risk of another loss is very low.
He concluded by saying the baby girl gave him a "thumbs up" in a recent ultrasound.
