As a member of the council, she will evaluate issues relating to athletics and education, as part of the NJCAA’s effort to support over 500 junior college members. “I am proud to represent the college,” said Miles, who is one of two representatives in the Northeast District.

Miles, who has been president since 2015, has nearly three decades of experience in higher education. Her previous role as provost and executive vice president at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland prepared her to succeed Westchester Community College’s resident of 43 years, Dr. Joseph Hankin. At the time of his retirement, Hankin was the nation’s longest serving community college president.

In addition to Miles, the Advisory Council will be comprised of eleven other presidents with two members from each of the six regional districts, nationwide. The members will be eligible for reelection following a three-year term.

Since 1938, NJCAA has served as the governing body for junior college athletics. The second-largest of its kind in the U.S., the association offers athletic and academic opportunities to college students in conjunction with member schools in 43 states.

Each year, nearly 60,000 student-athletes compete in one of the 28 different sports offered by the NJCAA, culminating in 48 national championships and eight football bowl games. For more information visit njcaa.org.
