Registration Open For Kids In Mount Vernon Summer Camp

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A six-week summer camp is now open for registration in Mount Vernon.

The city's Summer Camp 2016 cost is $550.00 for the six weeks; early bird rate is $450.

All registration is on a first come, first served basis. 

The Junior Camp for Ages 5-8 meets at Traphegan Elementary Senior Camp and for ages 9-12 at Holmes Elementary, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp runs Monday, July 5 to Friday, Aug. 12. Activities include basketball, kickball, baseball, arts and crafts, trips, weekly swimming and more. 

In addition, the following sport clinic are offered:

  • Baseball ($450 or $90.00 per week) if offered.
  • Tennis ($100 per session; $200/five-weeks) 
  • Soccer ($200.00/six weeks; $50 per session)
  • Biddy-Midget Basketball League ($35 parks activation; program free) for boys and girls, six to 14, July 5 to Aug. 12, Monday and Tuesday, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
There are Playground camp times as follows:

  • Playground, Fleetwood Avenue/Broad Street: ($35), Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. Parents must accompany children 10 and under.
  • Madison Playground, Franklin and Madison Avenues, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Old 7th Avenue Playground, 7th Avenue between West 2nd and 3rd Streets, 1 to 3 p.m.
