Mount Vernon Voted Tastiest Tap Water In Westchester

The Westchester County Department of Health held its annual water tasting contest in White Plains, and 172 county residents sampled water from nine water suppliers in a blind taste test.

The taste test was in held in recognition of National Drinking Water Week. The Department of Health sought to promote the quality of Westchester tap water and to highlight the role of the department in assuring that quality.

Mount Vernon won bragging rights, leading the way with 47 votes. The runner-up was Briarcliff Manor Village, which earned 29 votes. Elmsford rounded out the podium in third, with 21 votes.

According to the Department of Health, a good glass of water should be clean, crisp, clear and cool. County water is tested regularly to ensure it meets quality standards.

Other participants in the taste test included Scarsdale, United Water in New Rochelle, Cortlandt Consolidated Water District, White Plains and Yonkers.
