MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – With Memorial Day weekend and the dog days of summer rapidly approaching, Mount Vernon is one of several municipalities preparing their pools and beaches for droves of residents.
Three county beaches and four pools are nearly set to open for the season. In Mount Vernon, Wilson’s Waves at Wilson’s Woods Park won’t be open for the holiday, but will feature long hours during an eight-week summer stretch.
The pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day between June 21 and Aug. 18. A Park Pass or proof of county residency is required for entry.
Admission will cost $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12 with a valid Westchester County Park Pass. Seniors can get in for $5 on weekdays with a Westchester County Senior Park Pass. Parking will cost $5.
Those looking for some Memorial Day fun will still have options, as beaches in Croton-on Hudson and New Rochelle will be open to the public. Croton Point Park and Glen Island Park will open their season this weekend, staying open on weekends through June 16 before the summer schedule kicks in. Playland Beach in Rye will be open on Wednesday through Sunday from June 21 through Aug. 18.
