At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, Thomas will be featured in the special presentation: “Five Things You Can Do To Change Sh!#,” where he will discuss immediate actions that people can take to implement long-term, systematic differences in the world.
In advance of his cable debut, Thomas spoke about several issues that have plagued his community and the country and discussed some of the important topics that have been brought up by current presidential nominees, calling Republican Donald Trump “thoughtless” and saying Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“We need to worry about urgency and trust. Right now, there needs to be an urgency in translating conversations and issues into action,” he said. “That’s where we really have to pay attention to, because right now, we have an obstructionist Congress that doesn’t even want to fight the Zika virus.”
Thomas added that it’s important for voters to “make sure they choose a candidate they trust best.”
“When you look at communities that are facing poverty, homelessness, joblessness - and not just cities, it’s widespread - and then look at the results of some policies, we’ve failed,” he said. “We need to make sure we bridge those gaps and connect the network of disconnects by holding our candidates accountable for their decisions and comments they’re making.”
Thomas will be featured on BET beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night.
