Last month, Blondie was adopted by a family but returned to the shelter after she was diagnosed with heart worm, which came with a $1,200 bill the family couldn’t afford, prompting the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter to launch a fundraising campaign to get Blondie her necessary care.

Blondie is “a little picky with dogs, but has been tested with Baby Jax - who belongs to a staff member - and she adores him. She can live in a home with a dog she likes,” and has been described as “fun, loving and extremely sweet.” She also knows basic training.

The 18-month-old hound mix “loves to play in the yard and be cuddled by everyone she meets.” She is now available for adoption after starting her heart worm treatment - which is paid for - and is on the road to recovery.

Those interested in potentially adopting Blondie can visit the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter on Garden Avenue or call (914) 665-2444.
