Storytelling: 2 to 4 p.m. Stuart Nager will tell stories to children in an event sponsored by Arts of Westchester at the Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st St., Mount Vernon.

Civil Service Commission Meeting: 4:30 p.m. The Mount Vernon Civil Service Commission will meet in the Memorial Room at City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Outdoor Movie Showing: 8:30 p.m. Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” will be shown on the lawn of the Doles Center, 250 S. 6th Ave., Mount Vernon.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

Board of Estimates and Contracts Meeting: 9 a.m. The Mount Vernon Board of Estimates and Contracts will meet in the mayor’s conference room at City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Board Games and Puzzles: Noon to 1 p.m. Board games in the children's room at the Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Ladies Night: 7 p.m. The Summer Breeze Concert Series continues with “Ladies Night” featuring Meli’sa Morgan, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

GED Workshop: 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library will hold “College to Careers,” a class for people studying for their GED, 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Mother Goose Story Time: 10:30 to 11 a.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library is holding story time for children. 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Friday, Aug. 17

Children’s Summer Reading Celebration: 1 to 4 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library will hold an outdoor summer reading celebration. Games, music, food and more  to celebrate the Summer Reading accomplishments. This is a family event. 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Summer Movie: 3 to 5 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library will show children's movies in the children's room, 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Italian Night: 6 to 11:30 p.m. The Summer Breeze Concert Series continues with Italian Night, sponsored by Café Europa, Gramatan Avenue between North and Sidney streets, Mount Vernon.

Concert at the Bayou: 10 p.m. Jed Luckless, a blues musician, plays the Bayou Restaurant, 580 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon.
