What's Happening In Mount Vernon This Weekend

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — A book club meeting, a dance studio open house and various church services highlight this weekend's events in Mount Vernon.

Friday, Sept. 7

SAT Registration: Today is the last day for students in the Mount Vernon City School District to register to take the SAT exam on Oct. 16.

Chat 'N' Snack Book Club: 3:30 to 4 p.m. Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to discuss the book "Attack of the Evil Pelvises.” The meeting will take place in the Children's Room, Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. First Ave., Mount Vernon.

Saturday, Sept. 8

Dance Studio Open House: 10 a.m. Transcend Dance Inc. will hold an open house. 6 Gramatan Ave., Suite 203, Mount Vernon.

Concert at the Bayou: 11 p.m. Singer/Songwriter Geoff Hartwell performs. Bayou Restaurant, 580 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon.

Sunday, Sept. 9

Early Worship Service: 7:30 a.m. Macedonia Baptist Church will hold a worship service, 141 S. 9th Ave.

Praise Worship: 8 p.m. First Presbyterian Church will hold a worship service, 199 N. Columbus Ave.

Sunday Worship: 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Grace Baptist Church will hold three worship services, 52 S. 6th Ave., Mount Vernon.
