MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — Meetings of the City Council and Planning Board as well as a National Night Out held by the police and fire departments highlight this week's events in Mount Vernon.

Monday, Aug. 6

Trivia : 11 a.m. to noon. The Mount Vernon Public Library will hold a trivia game for residents. 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Storytelling : 2 to 4 p.m. Stuart Nager will tell stories to children in an event sponsored by Arts of Westchester at the Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st St., Mount Vernon.

Planning Board Meeting : 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Mount Vernon Planning Board will meet at City Hall. This meeting was rescheduled from Aug. 1. 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

National Night Out : 6 to 8 p.m. The Mount Vernon Police and Fire departments will hold demonstrations outside of City Hall. There will also be giveaways and refreshments. 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

City Council Meeting : 7 p.m. The Mount Vernon City Council will hold its committee meetings at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public, but public participation will not be allowed until Wednesday night's meeting. 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Fleetwood Funk Concert : 7 p.m. The Summer Breeze Concert Series continues on Gramatan Avenue where Stallone's "The Blues Band" will perform. The concert is sponsored by Maggie Spillane's, located at 571 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon.

Family Film Frenzy : 7 p.m. The 2001 movie "Monsters, Inc." will be shown on a big screen at the Wilson Waves Aquatic Center. Admission is $5, E. Lincoln Ave., Mount Vernon.

Mother Goose Story Time : 10:30 to 11 a.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library is holding story time for children. 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Board Games and Puzzles : Noon to 1 p.m. Board games in the children's room at the Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

City Council Meeting : 7 p.m. The Mount Vernon City Council will hold its public meeting in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Thursday, Aug. 9

Farmer's Market : 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Farmers and other local vendors will be selling their products in front of City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Literary Tea Party : 2 to 4 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library will host the End of Summer Literary Tea Party. 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Summer Movie : 3 to 5 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library will show children's movies in the children's room, 28 S. 1st Ave., Mount Vernon.

Arts On Third Auditions : 6 to 8 p.m. Singers, dancers and musicians will audition to perform on the amateur stage at the Arts On Third Festival on Sept. 16. The auditions will be held at the Dole Center, 250 S. 6th Ave., Mount Vernon.

Concert at the Bayou : 9 p.m. The Bayou Restaurant will host Sam Waymon and The New School, 580 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon.
