MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - New Year's celebrations and various library activities highlight what to do in Mount Vernon this week.

Monday, Dec. 31

New Year's Eve Party : 1 p.m. The Empowerment Center will host a New Year's Eve Party, which will feature food and live entertainment, 20 E. First St., Mount Vernon

Computer Lab for Academic Use : 2 to 4 p.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library has computers available for students doing schoolwork. 28 S. First Ave., Mount Vernon.

Concert at the Bayou : 9 p.m. Pocket Change performs at the Bayou Restaurant's New Years' Eve Bash. Admission is $60. For more information call 914- 668-2634, 580 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

New Year's Day : All municipal and school buildings will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Family Holiday Program : 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. St. Paul's Historic Church will host a holiday program for families, 897 S. Columbus Ave., Mount Vernon.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

School Resumes : All schools in the Mount Vernon City School District reopen after the winter recess.

Planning Board Meeting : 6:30 p.m. The Mount Vernon Planning Board will meet in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon.

Thursday, Jan. 3

Mother Goose Story Time : 10:30 to 11 a.m. The Mount Vernon Public Library holds Mother Goose story time in the library’s Children’s Room. 28 S. First Ave., Mount Vernon.
