'Stop The Violence' Program In Mount Vernon Uses Old School Rap

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon is going to travel back in time to battle violence with an old school hip hop concert filled with special guests.

Beginning at noon on Saturday at the Masonic Lodge on 11th Avenue, Stick 2 Gether and Valley Entertainment will host “Stop The Violence” an old school concert and block party that will provide youth a chance to do good on the streets.

There will be special performances by old school hip hop artists such as Keith KC, Spoonie G, Dynamic 3, Octavia and other local performers. Guest speakers that have been invited to the event include Hammurabi Bey, Mount Vernon-native John Boykin, actor Pop Gaskins and Dougie Fresh, who is widely regarded as the father of hip hop.

Aside from the musical entertainment and speakers, there will be food and other forms of entertainment at the free concert and block party.
