The annual Mount Vernon Proud Community Street Fair and Awards presentation has been scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 1 at the Doles Community Center on Seventh Avenue.
There is a full slate of events planned to bring the community and city officials closer together.
A diabetes awareness walk, sponsored by the Prince Hall Shriner’s Elejamal Temple #185 will kick-off festivities at 9 a.m. as it leaves from Hartley Park. The walk will conclude at the Doles Center at the beginning of street fair festivities at 11 a.m.
At 10 a.m. local civil servants will take to the court as Mount Vernon firefighters will square off against Mount Vernon police officers in a basketball grudge match. The Fourth Street Playground will also be transformed into a Health and Wellness Street Fair that will be hosted by the Interfaith Health Community.
