The tree lighting was attended by local elected officials, community leaders, families and seniors and featured cups of hot cocoa, holiday treats, live Christmas music and an appearance by a very special guest from the North Pole.

“The holidays are a wonderful time of year for everyone. Families, children and loved ones all come together to share in this joyous time and I am thrilled to be out here tonight, lighting the tree in Fleetwood Playground, and spreading the holiday cheer,” said Klein.

The tree lighting festivities commenced in the late afternoon with live Christmas music from talented guitar duo Andrea and James Rohlehr, who delighted the crowd with popular holiday carols like, “Let it Snow,” “Jingle Bell Rock” and “A Holly Jolly Christmas.” The event featured a seven-foot tall Christmas tree, donated by Klein’s office, which was lit shortly thereafter.

A special appearance was made by Santa Claus, who visited with local families and children and passed out candy canes.

“Our first annual tree lighting in Fleetwood was spectacular – I had a wonderful time tonight celebrating the season with friends, family and the entire community,” said Michael Justino, president of the Fleetwood Neighborhood Association. “A special thanks to Senator Klein for his help putting together tonight’s tree lighting, and of course, to all those who came out and joined in the festivities.”
