MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. --The Mount Vernon Public Library will be showing four films from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesdays in February.

The Black History Month offerings are:

Feb. 2: “Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned,” starring Natalie Cole, Laurence Fishburne and Cecily Tyson. The 1997 film by Walter Mosley tells of the struggles of ex-con Socrates Fortlaw as he tries to re-entry society.

Feb. 9: “Supremacy,” stars Danny Glover as a man whose family has been taken hostage by a white supremacist on the run from the law.

Feb. 16: “The Great Debaters,” with Denzel Washington, tells the story of the historically black Wiley College and its debate team in the 1930s, when Jim Crow laws were still common.

Feb. 23: “Half Past Autumn,” a biopic on the great Gordon Parks, a director, writer and photographer who worked for “Life” magazine and co-founded “Essence” magazine.

The films will be shown in the library’s Grace Green Baker Community Room.
