MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Mount Vernon's Fleetwood Synagogue is set to honor Riverside Memorial Chapel's senior vice president David A. Alpert in December.
The synagogue will honor the lifelong Mount Vernon resident and active supporter of the Westchester Jewish community on Dec. 8 at a coctail reception. The gala coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Mount Vernon Eruv, which was made possible by Alpert’s support.
"The Eruv has enhanced the religious observance of Fleetwood Synagogue members who reside in Bronxville, Yonkers and Mount Vernon," Fleetwood representatives said in a press release.
Alpert "played a major role in the dedication" of the Jewish Chaplains Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Alpert also serves as a REITS Fellow and is on the board of the Wurzweiller School at Yeshiva University, the Chair of the Holocaust and Human Rights Center in Westchester and vice president of the Advisory Board of the New York Board of Rabbis. The Westchester Jewish Council presented Alpert with a Distinguished Service Award earlier this year.
Tickets for the cocktail reception are $200 per person. A journal is being published and ads are being accepted. For more information, email FleetwoodSynTreas@verizon.net.
