MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- More than 200 seniors and guests attended the annual Thanksgiving Luncheon in Mount Vernon.
The 67th annual event from the Mayor's Advisory Board for Seniors and the Handicapped office for the Aging was held at the Mount Vernon Armory. The seniors enjoyed a meal consisting of turkey, sweet potatoes and stuffing, along with dessert and refreshments.
Geraldine Christiana, Director of Office for the Aging, gave the opening comments and Master of Ceremonies, Anthony J. Guarino also spoke. Rabbi Andrew Bossov played holiday songs for the crowd on the piano and Mayor Ernest D. Davis also spoke.
“Many of these seniors live alone and don’t have family or a place to go for the holidays," said Christiana. "So having them here today provides them with a Thanksgiving Day meal that is well appreciated by them."
