Mount Vernon Rec Announces After School Programs

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The Mount Vernon Department of Recreation is holding youth programs at three elementary schools in the city for students in grades 3-6.

Participating schools are Grimes Elementary located at 58 S. 10th Ave., Longfellow Elementary located at 625 S. 4th St. and Pennington Elementary located at 20 Fairway St. Known as the “Beyond The Bell” program, Grimes and Pennington’s after school programs include basketball, tennis, martial arts and more. The program, which runs Monday through Friday from 3 - 6 p.m. until Dec. 21 costs $375. The program is limited to the first 35 to sign up at Pennington while Grimes has room for 40 students.

Longfellow’s program, which runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4 – 6 p.m. until Dec. 15, includes basketball, double dutch jump rope, kickball and more. The cost of the program, which is limited to 35 participants per session, costs $35 each day.
