Mount Vernon Pastor To Be Honored This Weekend

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — Parishioners of the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church will honor the Rev. W. Darin Moore this weekend before he leaves Mount Vernon to take higher office in the church.

The Rev. W. Darin Moore, a Mount Vernon native, will be honored by the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church this weekend before joining the AME Zion Western Episcopal District.

Moore was elevated to bishop in the AME Zion Church by a collection of international delegates at a conference in North Carolina over the summer. Moore will join the AME Zion Western Episcopal District, which covers congregations in Arizona, Nevada, Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon and California.

To honor his promotion, an Interfaith Affirmation and Farewell celebration for Moore will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon High School, 100 California Road. On Sunday, Moore will give his final service at the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, at 312 S. 8th Ave.
