The festival will feature four days of films, panel discussions, after-party events and a nightly outdoor screening of classic films shown against the City Hall rotunda. It will also put a spotlight on Mount Vernon’s diverse culture and celebrate actors who were either born in Mount Vernon or reside there now, such as Denzel Washington, Michael O’Keefe and Michael Imperioli.

Featured films will come from both independent and established filmmakers and will help youths interested in filmmaking embark on a future in film.

“It’s important to let the world know that this 4-square-mile city nestled at the tip of the Bronx, New York City, packs a big punch,” said Osiris Imhotep, founder of the Mount Vernon Film Festival. “When you think of 'The Honeymooners' and Art Carney, think of Mount Vernon, the city in which he was born. When you think of 'The Cosby Show' and Phylicia Rash?d, think of Mount Vernon. Denzel Washington, J.B. Smooth, Dick Clark -- I can go on and on and on because Mount Vernon is where entertainment begins.”

The Mount Vernon Film Festival will also feature the New York International Independent Music Festival 2014, which includes live performances from various artists each night of the film festival. Music promoter Bea Montgomery, who has been in the music and entertainment business for over 30 years, is hosting the event.
