Mount Vernon Celebrates July Fourth With Weekend Full Of Events

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Mount Vernon is coming out to celebrate July Fourth with a weekend full of community events that include everything from a summer concert to a classic car show.

Events get under way with the Mount Vernon Advance Auto Parts and Mount Vernon Classic Car Club “Classic Car Show” at 120 East Sandford Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 2, followed in the evening with a Summer Breeze concert at Hartley Park from 7 to 9 p.m. with music by Rocky Middleton and Friends and Sage. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Adults are welcome to bring beverages. Parking available on second-floor of the Municipal Lot on East Sidney Avenue.

Sunday, July 3, Mayor Richard Thomas will lead a community clean-up of Egmont Park starting from 11:30 a.m. (Egmont Ave & 5th Street), to dusk, and on Monday, July 4, Thomas and Jim Killoran of Habitat for Humanity will join the Banning family in the reading of the Declaration of Independence at St Paul’s Church from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
