MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The smell of Italian food and the sounds of Italian music filled the air along Gramatan Avenue Friday evening as Mount Vernon celebrated Italian Night.

Organized by Cafe Europa owners Orazio and Filomena Popoli, the festival gave people a chance to get together for some music, dancing and eating. Orazio Popoli said the business tries to serve all the people of Mount Vernon, Westchester County and the greater New York City area.

"We try to bring people to the rest of the stores down here," Popoli said. "We try to bring people to Mount Vernon because it is a nice city. I love how people can enjoy themselves and forget about their problems. That's what this night is all about."
