The Mount Vernon Summer Breeze Concert Series presents residents with different genres of music, twice a week, in the city. All concerts kick off at 7 p.m. on the steps of City Hall. Artists specialize in everything from Caribbean and R&B to hip-hop and gospel.

Monogold is a three-piece band that hails from Brooklyn, comprised of band members Keith Kelly, Jared Apuzzo and Mike Falotico. They’re performed internationally and were a featured band at the press release for Google Music in Los Angeles.

The Renaissance Youth Center provides performance-based music instruction in the south Bronx. Students routinely tour the tri-state area and are accepted into performing arts high school and colleges. They recently introduced “Music With A Message,” a program that utilizes song to help troubled youth deal with their problems.

On Saturday, there will be a gospel showdown, featuring clergy members from around Mount Vernon and Westchester County. The show will be hosted by Mount Vernon-native Deborah Womack-Irizarry, who has become an established name in the gospel music community.
