Elisa Velasquez found her beloved miniature poodle Teddy bleeding from his right eye and covered in extreme bruising on his head, she writes on her GoFundMe page

"Beds and furniture were pushed to try his best to harm my pets," Velasquez writes. "My cat Jade was fortunate to get away and protect herself, but my Teddy was not.

"Teddy was forcefully hit on his right side of his eye and head with a metal pole, causing his eye to bleed out and extreme bruising on the head."

Police responded to her apartment at the 2000 block of Sequoia Court to investigate the burglary around noon, officials said.

A resident in apartment saw the suspect trespassing, and once the suspect noticed the resident, he fled through the back door, Prince William County Police said. There was no sign of forced entry to the apartment, police said.

Velasquez is asking donations to assist in Teddy's medical expenses.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Prince William County Police.
