Man Crossing Long Island Intersection Struck, Killed By SUV

A man crossing an intersection was killed after being struck by an SUV on Long Island.

It happened on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6:10 p.m. in Lindenhurst.

Jacek Rogowski, 42, of Lindenhurst, was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SUV westbound on East John Street when his vehicle struck a male pedestrian crossing the street at the intersection of North Indiana Ave., Suffolk County Police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Rogowski was not injured.

The SUV was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
