Minor Earthquake Hits Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- If you thought your bed was rumbling on Tuesday morning, you weren't wrong, it was a minor earthquake that registered a magnitude 1.0 and occurred in parts of Greenwich and Port Chester, N.Y., according to the Connecticut Post.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake, centered 2.4 kilometers below the earth’s surface, was so small that chances are slim that any residents felt the shaking near River Avenue and Byram Shore Road around 12:04 a.m., said the Connecticut Post.

The state had about a dozen small to moderate quakes in eastern Connecticut last January, with the largest happening near a fault known as the Lake Char Fault, or the Honey Hill Fault, added the Connecticut Post.
