The $72,000 cost would be part of several requested items the city is sending to New York state as part of its capital improvement program.

Other items include another vehicle to help maintain city roads and other areas, another fire truck, a vehicle to transport senior citizens, and repairing storm sewers throughout the city.

All items would be funded through bonds which would have to be financed by the city.

The council discussed the program during Tuesday’s city council meeting.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said the city is not allocating any additional funding other than what was already voted for this year’s budget.

“Each of these are consistent with the budget already adopted by the council last month for 2013,” said Bramson.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Ave.
