MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A reading of the Declaration of Independence tops the list of events commemorating Independence Day at St. Paul’s Church in Mount Vernon this year.
Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. on July 4 at the church. A 13-ring salute on the historic church bell – which was cast in 1758 – will accompany the reading of our nation’s founding charter.
This year’s keynote speaker is Lisa Keller, a professor at SUNY Purchase.
Following the presentation, the public is welcome to tour the historic grounds at St. Paul’s to commemorate the sestercentennial anniversary of its 1763 opening.
Music and refreshments will be served at the event. The grounds at St. Paul’s will be open until 5 p.m.
