“Children and families had the opportunity to spend a wholesome day together celebrating the good our children do that is sometimes taken for granted,” said Mel Campos, chief professional officerof the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon.

More than 200 children and their families enjoyed a fun filled block party that highlighted the three major objectives of the club – academic success, healthy lifestyles and community service. The Sept. 26 event was filled with a variety of different and fun activities such as face painting, clowns, two bounce houses, tennis and basketball demonstrations, and an obstacle course.

The Revelators Dance Group and the Alpha Stars Cheerleading Team entertained the crowd and offered spirited performances.

ShopRite provided healthy snacks, and Dr. Bob Della‘More performed a healthy cooking demonstration with samples to promote healthy lifestyles.
