Black History Month Event At Mount Vernon Public Library

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Public Library will screen the film "Prince Among Slaves" from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday.

The film tells the story of Abdul Rahman Sori, who in 1788 was sold into slavery and brought to the United States despite being the heir to the throne of one of the largest kingdoms in Africa.

A discussion, led by Imam Abdul Azeez, immediately will follow the screening. Light refreshments will be served.
