Officials confirmed that the store would not be opening its door anytime soon, after the driver of a Bobcat-type crane that was doing repairs on the roof caused a sizable cave-in, leaving a hole estimated at approximately 40 feet.
Five people, including the operator of the Bobcat suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Yonkers Fire and Police Department were joined by Emergency Service units at the scene at approximately noon on Wednesday.
A section of Central Park Avenue was closed down on Wednesday afternoon as authorities cleaned up and investigated at the scene. According to a News12 report, the crane may have weighed more than the parking deck’s 4,500-pound limit.
