Stop & Shop To Lay Off 239 In Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Stop & Shop Supermarkets will lay off 239 workers when it closes its Mount Vernon warehouse this September, according to the Westchester County Businesss Journal.

Stop and Shop announced it will close the warehouse attached to the Mount Vernon store and lay off 239 workers in September.

The supermarket chain is closing several warehouses that are attached to stores as the company opens a 300,000 square foot center in Jersey City, N.J., WCBJ reported.

The Mount Vernon Stop & Shop store will remain open for customers, WCBJ said.
